Our journey begins in Bishkek, the capital, and leads to the peaceful Kyzart Village, a traditional mountain village surrounded by rolling hills and the majestic passes leading to Song-Kol Lake — one of Kyrgyzstan’s most beautiful alpine lakes, frozen and magical in winter.

Itinerary

29 December 2025 - 01 January 2026
Day 1 (29 Dec)
  • Pick up from Bishkek City or from Bishkek International Airport
  • 5-hour scenic drive to Kyzart village
  • Lunch and meet your hosts
  • Start a 5-hour horse ride over the Son-Kul Pass to Kilemche Valley.
  • Stay overnight in a family yurt, enjoy traditional dinner and tea under the bright mountain stars.
Day 2 (30 Dec)
  • Continue your ride to Song-Kol Lake (about 4 hours)
  • Arrive at your yurt camp by the lake and take in the breathtaking frozen landscape
  • Depending on your arrival, enjoy lunch or dinner, walk by the lake, drink tea, share stories, or simply relax in the warmth of the yurt
Day 3 (31 Dec)
  • After breakfast, ride back to Kyzart (5h)
  • Enjoy a warm dinner, relax your muscles in a local banya (which is a local small Kyrgyz bath house), and prepare for a very special Kyrgyz New Year celebration
  • Dress up in Aiaz Ata costumes (Ayaz Ata is a “winter gift-giver” in Turkic / Central Asian folklore — essentially a counterpart to Ded Moroz or Santa Claus)
  • Then take a horse-drawn carriage ride through the village, greet locals, share laughter, and visit families
  • Celebrate New Year’s Eve with traditional dinner, gifts, music, and good company back at the hostel
Day 4 (1 Jan)
  • Start the year with a hearty breakfast and live traditional Kyrgyz music at the hostel
  • Say goodbye to your hosts and drive back to Bishkek (5 hours) with unforgettable memories of the mountains and the people.
